Welcome to the May property report for Barnsley from NesltedIn. May has been another fantastic month for the Barnsley property market. Buyer and seller confidence remains high, with sales remaining resilient.
Let’s take a closer look at what happened in the Barnsley market (S70-S75) during May:*
During that time, 300 properties were sold subject to contract. A breakdown of the sales is as follows:
Up to £125,000 –157 properties.
£125,001 – £250,000 – 115 properties
£250,001 – £500,000 –27 properties
Over £500,001 – 1 property.
Properties at £125,000 and below were the most popular, accounting for over half of the total sales in town. The £125,001 – £250,000 market was also particularly buoyant, with this price range accounting for 38% of the total sales.
What were the most popular house types?
Barnsley has a diverse breakdown of house types. In May, the most popular house type sales were as follows:
Terraced /townhouse– 97 sales (33%)
Semi-detached – 91 sales (30%)
Detached – 59 sales (20%)
Bungalows – 34 (11%)
Other – 19 sales (6%)*

S71 – 61 sales
S72 – 34 sales
S73 – 33 sales
S74 – 30 sales
S75 – 72 Sales
The total sales for May were slightly lower than they were for April. This is a usual seasonal trend, mainly due to the extra bank holiday during the month.
